After all the trash I talked on during my previous post, it is important to know that I did take a conventional portrait on the same roll.

For the last little while, I've been into this type of picture. A lot of people think a "good" portrait dictates you can see the person's face. However, phototgraphers give little thought to what happens to the moments in between "decisive". I think the world has enough of the same photos and "good" is someone else's definition when it comes to photographs. Like Araki, I feel photographs often have the purpose of a visual diary. This moment happened in my life, even if I pushed the shutter at the "wrong" time. It feels good to be wrong sometimes.

Today is the last day to get Kodachrome processed. These are a few photos from my last roll.

Paul Simon has a song about Kodachrome, but also Simon and Garfunkel have song called "My Little Town". These photos were taken in my little town over Thanksgiving weekend. Click on them to see them larger (and to see how bad I am at scanning).

Pass the camera.....

I've found photos that I really liked on rolls of film before that someone else shot with my camera. These are two awesome photos that I wish I shot but only have the negatives for:

Hula Hoopers on Broadway....I'm 90% sure Josh Joye shot this.

Flags in Cedar City. Kodachrome. Sean Ferrell shot this.

If you know Sausage, this makes total sense.

Vienna...I keep thinking about how great this would look as an actual darkroom print.

It feels like forever since I've shot Tri-X but in reality, it's been about two weeks.
Way back in the summer....

David Bow from Iceland did a Frontside 180 fakie 5-0 on the world's worst handrail (this probably would've been radical in color or with better light or something).

And Dave McDonald went on a killing spree. This gap is huge. I miss Dave....come back from Paris soon?

A little more Kodachrome, I keep saying this will be the last, then I find something else on my "hard drive" (i.e. the stack of binders next to this computer). I didn't go out of my way to shoot anything planned with this one....no contrived, last roll stuff....just Thanksgiving break with some good friends I don't see often enough.
