Dear Diary,
Why Karlee is the best:
1. She puts up with the fact that I'm 31 and still act like I'm 15 (skateboarding, trying to be cool even though I'm too old, etc."
2. She's not afraid to put me in my place...like seriously, all the time.
3. She says incredibly rude things about people she doesn't know (and sometimes people she does know). It's nice to know someone who's not afraid to have an opinion once in a while.
4. That look she gets on her face when she's grumpy (see childhood pictures for reference).
5. When she says she doesn't care about something, she means it. Not like "I don't care" and you know she really does but wants you to "read between the lines".
6. I secretly like it when she's bitchy.
7. She's cute (token cliche reason).

Dear Diary,
I really should have posted something on Go Skateboarding Day but I didn't. James was in town shredding all week.

Here's a photo I shot on Go Skateboarding Day of G. David Law stomping a switchstance three hundred and sixty degree flip at the Murray Bump. I love natty light (as in natural light, not the cheap beer).

One year ago today, I woke up in severe pain. Went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with cancer. I had surgery the very next day. Today, I had a CT scan for a routine check up and (as far as I know) I'm still cancer free. Also, today is me and Karlee's eleven month anniversary. Today is already a better day than it was a year ago. Here's a crappy scan of a self-portrait on "Cancer Day 2008".

Dear Diary,
Every skateboard video has a pigeon in it. It goes back to Memory Screen probably and all that random found super 8mm footage. Swainston and I were talking about how pigeons (rats with wings) are a metaphor for travel. They're everywhere you go. Hemingway used to catch them in the Jardins De Luxembourg in Paris and eat them. 17 grams of protein. Hemingway was on the Atkins diet long before anyone I guess. Here's a photo of a pigeon at a spot Dave, Weston and I were skating a few months ago:

Dear Diary,

This is my friend Ken Nagahara. He shoots those Anti Hero ads lately. He's awesome and needs someone to marry him so he can stay in our country.

Chris and Lily live in Berkeley and were super nice to Karlee and I when we went to SF. They took us to a Taqueria in the Mission and drove us around.

Dear Diary,
Sometimes I go to take a photo and lose my nerve. I always kick myself for it later and worry about the "shot I missed out on". My lens focuses at a meter (about three feet in America), not any closer. My lens was about as close as I could focus on this and no I didn't ask the officer's permission. I'm proud I didn't lose my nerve for once (that's James in the photo with me).

Dear Diary,
I haven't written in a while so I guess it's overdue.

Dave and I met at the DI downtown to shoot photos and met this ex-marine there who told Dave he was going to mug him for being 22. He also said epic things like "Give me that skateboard I want to break my neck!" Then he tried to mug an older guy and practically gave the guy a heart attack before moving on to another sidewalk to sleep on.

We went skating at this tall ledge at an Elementary school and had some fun.

Some photos of Karlee, Syd and my pets with a little light leakage.

And an old photo of Garrett at the jibgnar spot.

Dear Diary,
Sean was in town last week and we went downtown.

Street photography can be pretty boring, huh? Maybe it's time to realize a bad photo is still a bad photo.

They had Mariachis at "The Lantern".

It rained and Vienna and I decided to stay inside.

Sausage was pissed about the rain too.

I went to see The Willkills at a bookstore that had some interesting graffiti.

Matt and I saw Built To Spill. By the way, The Meat Puppets played way too long......

Did you know I think Karlee is pretty? Now you do.
My life really isn't interesting. If you've made it this far into my blog, I feel sorry for you. At least watch some T.V. or something. Las Vegas is on tonight, or maybe you tivo'd last night's Lost? There has to be something better to do than read this boring bullshit. Seriously.

Dear Diary,
I finally developed some film! Here's the results:

I went to Cedar City to visit and ran into (almost) all of my friends within about 20 minutes. I guess because there's nowhere to go except Walmart there?

I saw Sean and Sam at their new place.

We got a new dog. This is Vienna. She's a sweet girl. Sausage loves to play with her.
In case you didn't know:

Annie loves the Utah Jazz and Steff knows how to text.
Oh, and a few weeks before any of this happened.......

Zac was in town and him and Dave destroyed wii sports. Wii gangstas?

Dear Diary,
I guess you could call me a skateboard journalist these days. I recently recieved my new issue of Slap Skateboard Magazine and for the second time this year, I wrote the intro to the magazine. It's kind of strange to say "I write about skateboarding." It sounds like the worst thing ever. If someone told me that they write about skateboarding, I would think they were the worst dude ever. Like, poetry about skateboarding? That sounds wack. Do you write about the breeze flowing through your hair when you skate? Or how your tight pants feel like a warm bed in the summer? Lame ass lame.
In my real life, however, I sold my digital camera on ebay. My plan was to use the money to buy a new, better camera. The story ended up going like this, however: I sold my camera, the guy paid me via paypal. When you get paid, you ship the item....this is how you get good feedback on ebay. So, after I shipped the item, the guy reported to paypal that someone else had used his account to pay for said item. So paypal gave him his money back. I have no camera and no money. I also got a lecture (via email) from paypal about how I should have read their policy on this before choosing paypal as my method of recieving payment. Basically, if you can get someone on ebay to ship something to your buddy's address instead of yours, you can report that someone else used your account to paypal and they'll give you your money back. Not only that, you can rest assured that paypal will give a stern lecture to the seller for being honest and cooperating. Thanks paypal.

Dear Diary,
I finally got to see Darkon and it was great. Possibly the best movie ever. For anyone who doesn't know....Darkon is a documentary about LARPers (Live Action Role Players). Darkon is a land in the forest surrounding Baltimore. Darkon is comprised of several different countries and the movie follows the "real lives" of the people of Darkon as well as their lives in the real world. Darkon is in a state of war as several different countries compete for land within the realm of Darkon. You can check www.darkonthemovie.com for more info.
In my binder full of negatives, there are two pages labeled LARP, September 24, 2005. These are my pictures of LARPers in Cedar City, Utah on a Saturday afternoon. Here's the pictures:

Dear Diary,
Been awhile. Everyone should know my cancer is in remission. I just have checkups for a bit. Here's some other things that happened semi-recently speaking:

Went to Juanita and Eric's house for a Halloween Party. Juanita took our picture.

This is Eric holding Morrissey's Shirt!

Saw this at the Pizza place.

This is my new roommate Tim. He's pretty cute isn't he? And it's nice to have another guy around the house. I can't believe my wife let me get a cat.
