"If you look at my photos you can see it's not really about perfection, it's not about composition. It's about seeing things and reacting to them very directly. There's an element of surprise in that I can't predict what will happen next.
Photography is difficult because a lot of times the subject is more important than the photograph. I've been given credit for photographing people like Basquiat or Warhol or whoever-and I've taken some good pictures of them-but in the end there's a lot of subject in those pictures."
